Data Smuggler’s 101: PGP Email Encryption @ Machine Project

On 5/29/2015 we brought the Cryptotrailer to Machine Project for a workshop on the basics of PGP email encryption, using the initial communications of Edward Snowden and Laura Poitras as our model. Through group role-play we review how Snowden and Poitras securely established technical trust and began communications. We learn to anonymously make initial contact with a source, verify the security of an encrypted message, and learn some tips for maintaining secure communications over time.
